Bitcoin Price Presents Modest Upside, Scary Downside!

Bitcoin has consolidated into a temporary levelling-off in the lower 8k zone. With US (CST) overnight trading, Bitcoin continues to show short-term higher highs and higher lows, trending slightly up. However, BTC still continues to struggle in breaking 8400 resistance, after testing the 8k lows. Hourly, BTC has also formed a pennant pattern with a flat top, a sign that potential breakout is at bay.

There is an opportunity on the bullish side with higher risk for a BTC entry at this stage as BTC currently holds 8k support and as the entire daily leg down held less than 1/2 of the previous leg up. However, the risk here is categorized as “high” as BTC still trades at the lows of this leg and trend change has not been confirmed.
Looking at the tech specs, stochastic hourly seems to have a biota sideways movement but is heading up overall, with a 4-hour stochastic scale showing a bullish pivot attempt – again without the trend change confirmation.
MACD hourly is about neutral, with the 4-hour scale showing potential cross to the upside::::
BTC is currently a play; look for a breakout at 8450 for low risk
Downside break at 8216.
Futures Traders-trade the trend. The short-term trend is currently long.

Trading Crypto: **Sunday Evening: Is BTC Building A Technical Base For A Move Higher?

As Bitcoin continues on it’s path higher, it brings with it many extreme technicals. BTC ranged from 8k to 8400 (just recently) and has bounced off the 8400 resistance level on the first run – which was to be expected. It is now on it’s way to test this level again, attempting to make its new support by breaking above.

BTC started this uptrend with the giant pennant pattern you see marked, which was broken to the upside earlier in the day. Now, there is another smaller pennant forming which looks to consolidate price a bit before churning higher…if that is the case.
The only issue is the extreme tech specs.
MACD has been skyrocketing up, and is finally slowing down to drift sideways for a bit, which is fine considering it is mostly an exit tool.
However, stochastic readings show staying power in the extremely volatile “danger zone,” the >80 area that seems to bring big price movement to BTC a high percentage of time that it spends in this zone. Stochastic also seeks to get some relief by allowing the hourly scale to finally seek lower levels again, which will give a glimpse of how well the uptrend can stay intact.
Support + Resistance levels have played well at 7600/8k/8400 thus far, with a little kickback around 8200(nothing concerning). Bitcoin is trending up, with confirmed higher highs and higher lows. Expectation beyond 8400 is BTC to seek 9k.
BTC is currently a HOLD. Downside protection should be used around the 8k mark – break of this area will retrace too much of the previous leg up, voiding the uptrend.
Futures traders- trade the trend. Short-Term trend is up: Look for your longs.

TOP TEN: Bright Lights In Crypto; If You Want To Feel Good, Follow These Folks!

We try to do a Top Ten list as often as we can. They usually grab some attention and provide the crypto twitter community a rallying point for robust debate. Whether it be a list of traders, alt-coins you shouldn’t buy, or some of the worst actors in crypto twitter, our lists provide debate and a reason to ‘watch your step’ in the mine field that is crypto twitter.

Today, we want to highlight some of the best actors in the space. Those that inspire, who bring out the best in those around them, or could just be considered a ‘good dude’ in one way or another. You will find that this list will grab personalities from all over the spectrum. Women, men, and how these personalities make crypto twitter tolerable in even the worst of times! Here we go:

10. Top Dog@topdogshares ) – first of all you are going to get daily dog videos doing cute stuff. So there’s that. But even better, Top Dog is a pretty good troll and has been having a pretty good time giving the guy next on our list a good go of his antics lately. And it has been hilarious! Top Dog and DG have been at it for about two weeks with their love/hate relationships of $XVG at the middle of it. He’s funny, and puppies. Enough said.

9. David Gokhshtein@davidgokhshtein ) – whether you love his alt-coin calls or his fundamental analysis or not, one thing that cannot be denied about David is that he is a good sport. The guy deals with trolls with emoji’s that smile back and never loses his cool. And he provides hot takes on alt’s even when it isn’t ‘alt-szn’. Just one of the good dudes that has carved out a solid following in crypto twitter without the help of anyone else. We know from experience that he is willing to help others as he recently put together a fund raising campaign for @CryptoRookieXVG in honor of his service and when he had a short term need. And he doesn’t troll or troll back. Which, in the world of crypto twitter, is reason enough to include him on this list.

8. Gem Crypto@GemCrypto ) – funny, engaging, smart, endlessly positive, a true crypto believer, inspiring. All of those adjectives apply to Gem! A true bright light on crypto twitter who shines everyday and is every way she knows how. Adding weekly YouTub videos to her repertoire this year, she engages with the crypto community in the hopes of educating as many as she can. Sometimes we wonder if her cheeks hurt from smiling all the time! ;) She is worth the follow for the shot of adrenaline every morning, and listening to for the cool British accent. Serious question – does anyone in crypto twitter dislike Gem? She may be the most liked twitter profile around.

7. The Coin Lawyer@TheCoinLawyer ) – first and foremost, he adds value by being one of the only (if not the only ‘visible’) crypto lawyer within the crypto twitter community. He is self-deprecating, will call out his own mistakes and bad calls, and knows when to cut bait when cutting makes sense. Empathetic and always available to give legal advice in an instant. Even beyond his legal skills, he falls under the category of ‘just a good dude’. His Periscope’s are usually worth the watch for both content and comedic value. And one more trait that we appreciate about him – he’s fair. He doesn’t cast dispersion’s quickly and often gives users a second or third chance if they’ve run afoul of unwritten crypto twitter rules (whatever those are on any given day!).

6. Crypto Dale@CryptoDale ) – awesome podcast, covering some of the most informed and important people in crypto. Good. Got it? But this guy is a laugh a minute on twitter all day. He trolls back when provoked, but does it in a way that makes everybody laugh. And his inspiration, Dale Doback, would be so very proud. I mean, when the podcast fork to ‘Boats and Hoes Podcast’? It has to be in the works doesn’t it? On a more serious note, he and his podcast group provide fantastic content that makes everyone who listens smarter. Go listen, or just watch the twitter antics – good dude.

5. 21 Cryptos Magazine@21Cryptos ) – what a fantastic publication. Awesome content, relevant at all times, great interviews, deep dives, knowledge based, yet they don’t always take themselves too seriously! They are ‘gif-erriific’ on twitter and engage constantly with users. And what an all-star staff: Des, V, Ananke, Iris, Tiff, Jamie, Colleen, and a host of contributors. They cover the crypto world both from a macro and micro level each month. One of our favorites was their work on ‘shadow bans’ that twitter was executing within the crypto community. Anyone notice how quickly that stopped after their article. They have influence – and whether it matters to you or not – we think it is super cool that a bunch of bad ass women are making waves in a community that predominately male. BOTTOM TEN: Garbage Coins To Avoid No Matter How Hard They Are Shilled On Crypto Twitter!

Crypto twitter is a shilling factory. Starting with Roger Ver and Bitcoin Cash all the way down to egg accounts who bot-troll on behalf of some coin you’ve never heard of, the practice is constant and dilutive to the crypto community. Some of the most shilled coins are household names, but shouldn’t be. Being touted for ‘alt-season’ currently isn’t a compelling reason to own, trade, or recommend these coins.

We are sure that some of these will be controversial, but that is to be expected. It is also our expectation that some of these coins will have vanished in the next 24-48 months. So buyer beware.

What you will find below is a mix of over-hyped, over-valued, and zero use case coins. Without further ado:

10. Dogecoin (DOGE) – the sheer volume of dogecoin that has been mined is reason enough to never touch this thing. It’s reference to a ‘dog’ as its mascot is appropriate. It is a dog and has largely been abandoned as nothing more than a cheaply priced trading coin that boatloads of traders have gotten crushed in. Don’t touch it, it is ‘dog’ shit.

9. Ripple (XRP) – the news from Ripple in the last couple of days has given crypto twitter, and mainstream financial media “all the feels”. Ripple donated to schools in fifty states and enjoyed a day worth of good PR. So what. Just a few weak hands own most of this coin, it isn’t even closely connected to owning Ripple as a company, and they are attempting to tie themselves to fiat banks. You could say that XRP is a poser coin. Trying to be fiat currency off the back of the crypto movement. GTFO.

8. Verge (XVG) – can everybody just shut up about XVG?? It rivals TRX as the most shilled coin in crypto twitter right now and it is getting old. It is basically vaporware – lol! No clear use case and it claims to be a privacy coin, but even that has been disproved. You can see users IP addresses as they make transactions. And a reminder, we are sick of hearing about it. MAKE IT STOP!

7. Tron (TRX) – where do we even start here. Zero use cases, no working tech, no product of any sort. Yet remains one of the most hyped, talked about, speculated on, shilled coin in crypto. People have put Tron in their twitter names and profiles. Justin Sun is a poor man’s, Charlie Lee. The only reason this coin is popular is that it is cheap and crypto dummies think they can ’10x’ when it goes to a dollar. Lame.

6. Davorcoin (DAV) – can someone say Bitcooooonnnneeeeecccccctttt!!!!??? Already hit with a couple of ‘cease and desist’ order in a couple of states, the price sits at a tidy $0.01, yet there is a steady stream of volume in this lending coin platform. It is garbage, as was Bitconnect. Yet people still insist on trading it hoping that somehow, someway there will be a pop of some sort.

And now for the Bottom Five!!

Top Ten: The Best ‘Under The Radar’ Names That You Should Follow Right Now!

Crypto is filled with OG’s that everyone follows, listens to, or try to emulate in some way, shape, or form. This isn’t that list.

One of the truths about crypto that doesn’t get talked about enough is that it is bringing together some of the sharpest minds in the world. Some of the best in engineering, tech, and finance are collecting themselves around a world-changing technology.

Instead of rehashing names that everyone knows, with larger followings on either Twitter or YouTube, we wanted to mix it up and shine a light on some of the freshest faces in the crypto community. So here we go:

10. Jason Mo @cuntycakes123 ) – you wouldn’t know it from the lower profile this guy keeps, but he may be one of the most successful crypto investors of all time. Never trumpeting his crypto holdings, balances, or exploits. He is content to just remain part of the crowd, talk about crypto from an investment standpoint, and engage whenever he finds it necessary. Not a trader, but rather an ‘under the radar’ legendary crypto investor.

9. Carter Thomas @carterthomas ) – to put it simply, Carter runs one of, if not the best YouTube crypto ed channels on the planet. His Twitter reputation has exploded in 2018, so he may not be as under the radar as he used to be, but still has yet to be a household name. His macro takes on crypto via YouTube are worth watching whenever a new episode is posted. Follow him on either platform and begin learning.

8. Ethan Ackerman @CryptoEthan ) – a young and talented trader who spends his days quietly touting his TA skills. And ‘touting’ may be too strong a term here. A smaller following has allowed Ethan to become really proficient at crypto TA without the hassle of trolls and haters looking to either fawn all over him or trip him up. The fact that he is so committed to crypto at the age of 19 is really cool. This guy deserves to be listened to when fashioning timely crypto trades.

7. Stardust @cryptostardust ) – maybe not as under the radar as others on this list, but quite possibly the best shitposter on Twitter when he’s engaged. When he gets serious about crypto and handing out useful information, he is a ‘must listen’ for newcomers. One source we talked to called him the ‘GOAT’ of shitposting. For that reason alone he is worth the read each day!

6. Dennis Jakupi @DennisJakupi ) – truly under the radar, with less than 1,000 twitter followers, but extremely proficient in calling out scam artists and frauds. Is nearly always first to the party when bullshit needs to be called. Has been in the space for nearly three years and doesn’t go around promoting himself, so we are happy to do it for him. For his nose for trash on Twitter, worth the read each day.

5. Crypto Monk @TheCryptoMonk ) – an under the radar TA genius who is just as astute at teaching as he is executing. Given that he carries the ‘Monk’ moniker it would make sense that he goes about his crypto days more than happy to stay under the radar. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hang on his every word though. As good a source of trading and fundamental crypto analysis as you will find.

4. Nic Carter @nic__carter ) – as sharp a macro crypto mind as you will find on Twitter. Shares his fundamental thoughts on pricing movements, longer-term HODL strategies, and general crypto knowledge on the daily. A young and sharp mind who you would do well to acquaint yourself with as quickly as possible. Also doesn’t mind making a little fun of crypto twitter when it calls for it.

3. Medium Squeeze @MediumSqueeze ) – this guys avatar is reason enough to follow him! But his crypto macro takes are what should be the real reason you listen to him. The most important reason to follow him is that he tells it like it is, is knowledgeable and honest, and can be trusted. That isn’t easy to find on crypto twitter. You will find it here with RideTheLightning!

2. Jake @jakelong32years ) – another TA trader on this list who doesn’t get nearly the attention he deserves. His calls are usually spot on, but even when they aren’t he has no problem admitting it. Also, he claims to be a horse, so you’ve gotta respect that. Any horse that can pull off epic TA like this one, should be way up this list!!

1. Uncle Yak @Yakherders ) – “Honest Opinions on the World Of Cryptocurrency. Part Time Scam Killer. Bitcoin & Yaks forever.” Anybody that claims these traits in their bio deserves to be listened to, if not followed in a cult-like fashion. Uncle Yak will rip your face off if you are a fraud and will proudly post a screenshot when you block him. Also full of ‘Yak-esque’ life lessons for all you young folk out there. For crypto wisdom, analysis, and comedic takedowns, Uncle Yak is your guy!

**And now for a couple of bonus fresh faces:

– Shilly Crypto @shillycrypto ) – the avatar, the snark, the wins and losses, and almost no ego. This guy may be the most honest TA follow on Twitter. Worth the price of admission if only because he isn’t going to claim that he is a TA god (where have we heard that before?). Go check him out.

– Rogue Trader @RogueICOJournal ) – don’t mind if we do!! This guy is our in-house TA specialist and is simply post chart, after chart, after chart, after chart. Stochastics, MACD, Elliott Waves, he does it all and has been remarkably sharp during this downturn. Also covers futures and Forex. A great new name in the space.

– Crypto Michael @CryptoMichNL ) – we had to make one more addition to the list. Crypto Michael is as committed to the TA crypto world as any; and as a bonus, is from Amsterdam. How could we NOT have somebody from Amsterdam on this list?? In all seriousness the guy has skills. When you add his poker resume’ to the list, you gotta go follow him!

And that is all for today folks. Many of these names need more recognition and will provide you with a more ‘authentic’ crypto experience on a day to day basis. If you want to stay away from scammers and pump and dump trash – these accounts will give you the real.

***Just a note that @CryptoKooks heavily contributed to the selections on this list!

Crypto Mocho: Lighting A Path To Crypto Success, In A Down Market

You may know him, you may not. But a Twitter of significant note takes the ‘left-hand path’ on his crypto journey.

Crypto Mocho can be found talking nodes of interest, lightly traded coins that under his commentary become mainstream, and guiding onlookers to ICO’s of interest before most influencer or reviewers ever get there.

We were made aware of his style and prowess about a month ago – and have followed nearly his every tweet. Not only is he enormously competent and wise in the ways of crypto, but entertaining as well. Oh, and even with all of the attention, he manages to be a good dude.

But what really matters is that following his calls over the past 30-40 days he has been remarkably accurate on his calls and has led those that will listen to new projects that have quickly become favorites of some of those in the know. ($ALQO/$XLQ comes to mind – both the coin and the masternode!)

With that call alone, in a seriously down market in 2018 he has made those that have listened a lot of short-term money (coin) and long-term residual income (node).

We can say this with extreme confidence. If you want to follow anyone and swim in their wake to crypto success and ultimately your version of ‘riches’ – become a Mocho fan. Don’t miss a tweet. The guy is total money.

FAST FIVE: Five Lame Crypto Twitter Accounts To Avoid

It is one thing to be a fraud. Another thing to be an astute trader. And the best list we’ve put together is this one.

You can choose to either follow or block the worst or the best that we’ve highlighted. But the names below, you simply want to avoid. They will drive you crazy. Either because of their online behavior or because they’ve staked out a certain position in crypto that is generally abhorrent. To be clear, this isn’t an exhaustive list – but rather a quick heads up at the end of the week, regarding who you should stay away from this weekend on Twitter. Here we go:

5. Matt LeFrandt – besides the well-documented scam tactics associated with Money Matt; he exhibits delusional behavior. Just this week he has taken to jumping into #BlackLivesMatter Twitter discussions to claim that he has found the blockchain cure for racism. WTF?? Read that here: DELUSIONAL

4. Ian Balina – look, we get it, you travel everywhere, and site different media outlets, love to give us your opinion on every ICO/token that has ever existed…oh, and the portfolio screenshots?? It’s a bit much dude. Tone it down. There’s much to be said about the guy that shouts the loudest in a crowd. Personal branding is cool and all – but chill out.

3. Coinbase – they keep shitting the bed. Whether it is credit card screw-ups, outages, link-ups with fiat banks, or just making it really hard to access your holdings at any point – most of ‘in the know’ crypto hates Coinbase. And they literally say nothing of interest on Twitter other than the random, ‘you can’t buy or sell BTC at the moment’ even though that is nearly the sole reason they exist. GTFO Coinbase.

2. Roger Ver – what a wasted opportunity this guy is. The crypto world at his feet, having been dubbed Bitcoin Jesus, he goes ahead and screws it all up with an ‘ill-timed’ (being generous there) Mt. Gox endorsement, and then the stupidity of his obsession with Bitcoin Cash. “Bitcoin Cash is the real Bitcoin.” Need we mention the YouTube rant that turned into a crypto meme. Roger is a caricature.

1. Honestly Crypto – is he the MOST annoying? Maybe not, but when you call yourself the “best trader in crypto” but yet you are still on Twitter calling yourself the “best trader in crypto” – you are most assuredly NOT the best trader in crypto. And he is constantly begging legit crypto influencers for retweets. Lamo! (not lambo).

Stay away from these accounts. They will piss you off on an otherwise enjoyable weekend!!!

Oh…

And stay even further away from these accounts: BOTTOM TEN

BIG FIVE: Stories of The Week (Women, Fraud, Ched’s, Binance, $VIA)

It has been an intense week in the world of crypto. We’ve gone ahead and created a recap of some of the action and the stories that were the most read on our platform during the frenzy. Take and look and be prepared to sweat a little bit, the latter part of the week was stressful for crypto purists. The collection of news items that contributed to the push lower for crypto prices was maddening. The weekend has brought a welcome calm.

  1. Big Ched’s has a calming effect on crypto traders: Big Ched’s Is A Crypto Treasure

2. Matt LeFrandt is a fraud: LeFrandt Caught On Hot Mic

3. The most influential women in crypto were featured! : Women Of Crypto Worth Listening Too!

4. Binance deals with hack, bots, chaos: Binance Drama Takes Over Twitter

5. $VIA Pumped 10,000%, Binance Bots: Binance Bots Pump $VIA For Seconds

Keep the feedback coming our way. And enjoy your weekend. TIJ.

**Addition** TOP TEN (+) : The Most Important Women In Crypto!

This list has been a joy to put together. And it’s way more than ten!

The women that we have spoken to about their experiences and relationships in and around crypto have been fantastic. Generally devoid of ego, always on point with their takes, incredibly complimentary of other women in the space, and enormously knowledgeable about cryptocurrencies at large. In other words, the opposite of 90% of the wannabe dudes in crypto!

But that isn’t a surprise. Women are generally more dialed into the nuances of a budding industry that is full of scammers and con artists. And they can see them from a mile away. They know where, how, and when to position their opinions in a male-dominated space and are amazing at it. A well thought out opinion here, and a perfectly timed comeback when confronted by the latest self-righteous coin genius.

The crypto space needs more women and these distinguished personalities – whether traders, investigators, influencers, or instigators – are worth every minute of your time. Take a look:

The Traders

  1. Bitcoin Bella @bitcoinbella ) – properly characterized as someone who focuses on fundamental analysis and does a great job with her YouTube channel. Her name came up as often as anyone when we spoke to other women in the crypto space. An important figure who knows how to handle the crypto men in her world and has been a guidepost for new women in crypto.
  2. Nikola Duke @NicTrades ) – a true TA expert who can go toe to toe with anyone in crypto with her technical analysis on a daily basis. Well know for her charting skills, and has done a great job building a following on her own website. Another name that came up again and again and again when we spoke with other women in crypto. (has more twitter secret admirers than she would care to admit!)
  3. Crypto Sally @crypto_sally_ ) – a green lambo, a YouTube account, and a fundamental trader extraordinaire! To say that Crypto Sally is popular with crypto fanboys would be an understatement. But she doesn’t easily suffer fools. Come strong with your FA knowledge if you want to engage the Canadien Twitter star. Her coin analysis is solid – as are her tattoos!
  4. Crypto Crystal Bella@crypto_bella ) – if you want to talk technical charts, crypto, and sneakers – then Crypto Bella is your girl! A self-avowed sneaker lover, and believer in finding the best in crypto charts. She can also be found to make fun of the funny shapes her charts are want to make and keeps things light. She does a nice job with a bit of fundamental analysis as well.

The Investigators

  1. Sarah Jamie Lewis@SarahJamieLewis ) – a truly unique personality in crypto. Fiercely committed to privacy and anonymity in crypto she can be found researching the shenanigans on the dark web or executing a hack connected to outing an unsavory character. She plays an important role in the foundational mission of blockchain and crypto from a privacy and anonymity standpoint.
  2. SuzHarbour@suzharbour ) – a ‘behind the scenes’ name in Twitter who operates with passion and precision from an investigative standpoint. An Aussie personality who fights fire with fire and was instrumental in outing several bad actors in the past month. Her following on Twitter is set to skyrocket because she is a super-sleuth all-star!
  3. Evacide @evacide ) – how should we put this. Eva is a bad ass. A tech extraordinaire who could probably simply press a button called “get rekt” and blow up anyone that she deems deserving. Though, with that kind of know-how and tech prowess, she doesn’t seem to threaten or use it. She is so accomplished in the cybersecurity world that we find it hard to describe how much of a tech bad ass she really is. (as we cower in cybersecurity fear). As a verified Twitter user, she defines the word ‘legit’ anytime she dips her toes into the crypto space.
